Over 4,000 students from the mid-state region recently auditioned for an opportunity to earn a seat with the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association’s (MTSBOA) Mid-State Orchestra. Students must go through a three part audition including scales, prepared music, and sight reading. The musicians scoring the highest in each section are selected to be a member of the Mid-State Band or Orchestra.
This year, JPII is proud to announce five students named to the Mid-State Orchestra. Congratulations to senior John Paul (JP) Quiampang, junior English Chesser, sophomore Jadyn Tarver, and freshmen Camille Quiampang and Simon Whiteley. Students are conducted by Jordan Tupper, JPII’s Director of Instrumental Music.
“I am elated and excited for these young musicians,” Tupper said. “This is a very competitive event, and these students earned it. They all work really hard and are very deserving of this recognition.”
Mid-State performances will take place in the spring.
