The Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Chattanooga on Saturday and faced GPS in regional action. In a close-fought game, the Lady Knights prevailed and came away with the win, 43-39. Freshman Anastin Lee scored a season-high 15 points to lead the Lady Knights followed by Ashley Malone with 8 points and 5 steals. The Lady Knights fell to Brentwood Academy, 28-55 on Friday.
Knight Bowlers Qualify for State
Six JPII bowlers have qualified for the individual competition at the TSSAA State Tournament. Quinn Collins qualified as the #1 bowler out of 12, Michael Wright qualified as the #3 bowler, and Ian Dilick qualified as the #11 bowler in the Men’s Individual Tournament. In the Women’s Individual Tournament, Reilly Aldrich qualified as the #7 bowler out of 12, Katie Dorr qualified as the #10 seed, and Samantha Aldrich as the #12 seed. The Individual TSSAA tournament action will begin on January 17th followed by the State Tournament on January 18th.
Both the men’s and women’s swim teams defeated Father Ryan, USN, and St. Cecilia on Saturday to win the overall meet at Centennial Sportsplex. Matthew Solarz qualified for State in the 100 yard backstroke, while Mason Wettengel qualified for State in the 100 yard breaststroke.
A powerful Brentwood Academy team was too much for the Knights as they fell to the Eagles, 44-73. Sam Specht led the Knights with 9 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Michael Martini and Ben Brooks with 8 points each.
The Knights wrestling team competed in a dual match last Thursday in Springfield. Although the Knights fell to Clarksville Northwest, they were able to pull off the win against Springfield, 42-33. On Friday, four Knights wrestlers made it to the second round of the Johnny Drennan Wrestling Tournament including Brock Brown, Peyton Knight, Malcolm Hogan, and Pierce Scholato. Malcolm Hogan led the Knights in team points for the day.
