It is an annual tradition for JPII’s AP biology class to study mountain stream, and its aquatic wildlife, at the Great Smokey Mountains Institute at Tremont. This year’s class spent Labor Day weekend exploring and investigating outside of the classroom and science lab. In particular, students studied salamanders and native fish species and how the changing environment impacts their habitats. The skill of developing a scientific study is critical for AP biology students. The journey to Tremont allowed students to develop that skill while also enjoying the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, its hiking trails, and beautiful night sky.
