For the fourth consecutive year, the Knights football team defeated cross-town rival Father Ryan, 28-17, keeping the Bishop’s Cup for yet another year. Antwan Roberts carried the ball 29 times for a total of 194 yards and scored one touchdown. Sawyer Watts connected with Rory White on a 77-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to help seal the victory for the Knights. On defense, Jackson Cook led the Knights with 10 tackles followed by Jay Wright with nine. Brandon Shockley and Kilon Williams each recorded an interception with Shockley scoring.
The Lady Knights soccer team defeated Brentwood Academy last Thursday, 4-0. Cruz Grinolds led the Lady Knights in scoring with two goals followed by Ava Priest and Katie Whiting with one each. Unfortunately, the Lady Knights suffered their first loss of the season on Friday falling to GPS, 2-5. Natale Mertens and Scott Chaffin scored the Lady Knights goals.
The Lady Knights volleyball team faced cross-town foe Beech High School in a non-regional match last Monday with the Lady Knights coming out on top 4 sets to 1. Tough, tenacious defense and controlled, precise offense hitting from the Lady Knights proved to be too much for the Lady Bucs. On Tuesday, the Lady Knights fought hard but fell to Brentwood Academy, 2 sets to 3. Emily Slaughter led the Lady Knights in kills for the week with 25, followed by Lillie Van Metre with 21. Slaughter also led the team in digs with 38, while Emily Chronister recorded 77 assists for the week and Kate Hobbs tallied 9 aces.
