About JPII

Dear JPII Community,

These are exciting times at JPII. We have received a lot of positive feedback about our upcoming middle school feasibility study. The next step in the process is for the Meitler Group, who is conducting the study, to meet with the diocesan and school leadership, particularly our Board of Trust. We will keep you updated weekly and will announce when Meitler is planning to meet with various groups in our community.

The return of enrollment contracts is strong, particularly for incoming freshmen. We are currently in the middle of the regular admissions season, and from the various athletic camps and admissions visits, we are getting a new wave of applicants. If you or a friend have a student interested in coming to JPII, now is the time to complete an application. Current families, please make sure you return your re-enrollment contract as soon as possible so we can plan for your return next year. If you have any questions, contact the business office. If you are interested in applying for financial aid, the portal for the 2020-2021 school year is open (www.factstuitionaid.com), and the deadline to apply is February 1st.

You may have heard about Tennessee’s new Education Savings Account (ESA). ESA is a state-funded voucher for low and middle-income households for families living in Davidson County who are switching out of a public or charter school to a religious or private school. Some of our families will be eligible for the program, and we want to help them understand how to apply. We will be sending information about the application process soon.

Next Monday is Martin Luther King Day, and we do not have school. However, in honor of Dr. King, and all those who fought for civil rights for all people, we have students who will participate in events in their communities and churches. Also, at JPII, we are kicking off an essay contest focused on the theme, “How does an individual have the power to change the world?”. Following the lead of Dr. King and all who have sacrificed in the quest for justice for all, we hope to inspire students and to have them use their gifts as writers to create pieces that help inspire others. Students at JPII, and in all of our diocesan schools, grades 7-12 may participate. We will honor winners at a special luncheon at the historic Woolworth’s on 5th as part of our celebration of Black History Month. Please see our website for details.

We hope to see many of you at our annual Gala at the Hutton Hotel on February 1st. This year’s theme is A Magical Night with the KnightsPlease contact jolind.weaver@jp2hs.org for information and tickets.

The Titans pulled off the big upset this past Sunday! To support them in the AFC Championships, students and staff may wear a Titans shirt, jacket, or jersey again this Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mike Deely
