About JPII

Dear JPII Community,

The Christmas Spirit is in the air, and we are all looking forward to the break. Students are wrapping up their foreign language and visual and performing arts exams this week and preparing to take their remaining exams Monday through Wednesday next week. Makeup exams for students who are ill or absent will take place on Thursday. As a reminder, the school office closes on Friday at noon and will reopen on January 6th.

There is much to celebrate in athletics this week. First up is our Bowling Team, who will head to the state tournament in January. Congratulations to Coach Strobel, Coach Dorr, and Coach Bohn for getting our bowlers to this point. Next, we congratulate our Girls Cross Country Team for being named Sumner County Team of the Year. It is an incredibly competitive region, and securing this title is impressive. We congratulate Coach Childress, Coach Pierpaoli, and Coach Childers for their leadership. Also, senior Cordelia Burke was named Runner of the Year, and sophomore Clare Earley was named to the First Team, while sophomore Ellie Hemmelgarn and freshman Savannah Kurtz were named to the Second Team. Finally, our Swim Team is pleased to share that senior Ella Platek is one of the top swimmers in the region and is in Atlanta this week competing in the Speedo Winter Junior Championships. Congratulations to Coach McCrary for her dedication.

A big thank you to our Fine Arts Department for spreading the Christmas cheer this week. The National Arts Honor Society took part in the City of Goodlettsville Candy Cane Village event and created an incredible JPII themed house for a snowman family. You can see their artistic talent on our social media accounts. The Instrumental Program, under the direction of Mr. Weakley, had a fantastic concert for students on Monday and a formal performance last night for the community. They are a talented group of students, and this program is, without a doubt growing into something special. The Choral Program, under Mr. O’Neill’s direction, takes the stage Thursday night for Sounds of the Season. We look forward to a fantastic performance by our many talented choirs.

As a forethought, there is a chance of snow next Tuesday. We will watch the forecast and adjust our schedule accordingly, if necessary. Delay and closures updates are posted on social media, the website, and emailed to parents and students.
