About JPII

Knight Notes June 27, 2018

Dear JPII Community,

I’d like to thank all the students, faculty, and alumni who helped host the Gubernatorial Debate last week. Producers at Channel 2 News gave particular praise to our facilities manager Mr. Dustin Papendick for coordinating and supervising the event, Mr. Zac Campbell and students Keegan Lampley and Stephen Smart for committing two days to technical support, and all the others who helped make the evening run smoothly. Watching politics in action up close was a significant learning experience. It was great to witness members of our community from every political party promoting the need for unity and open dialogue to create a political agenda that can benefit all people.

Many are asking for information about required service hours for our Christian Service program next year. The required hours will remain the same as last year: freshmen must complete 15 hours, sophomores 20 hours, juniors 25 hours, and seniors 25 hours. The portal is now open for students to enter any summer service hours they want to apply toward the 2018-2019 school year. Students will need to enter the designated goal for their grade level once logged into their portal. Visit https://www.x2vol.com/index.html to enter hours. Please refer to pages 23-26 of the Student Handbook if you have questions.

Last week we announced Mills Uniform as our new uniform provider. To be clear, only senior boys may wear blue pants; all other boys can only wear khaki pants. Students may continue to wear Parker uniform pieces that still fit. As students need new pieces, they will purchase from Mills Uniform. You can find information about Mills’ upcoming sizing event at JPII HERE.

As a reminder, we will close school offices next week and we will reopen Monday, July 9th. Until then, I wish you and your family a blessed and happy Fourth of July.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mike Deely

1:1 Technology Information

This year, we are beginning our 1:1 iPad program for 9th-11th grades . To facilitate this transition, all students and a parent/guardian will need to attend a one-hour iPad orientation session between July 17-19 or July 25-27 where they will receive a school leased 9.7 inch, 6th generation iPad. Rising seniors and their parents do not need to attend a technology orientation.

At this session, students will be issued an iPad and set up an Apple ID. Students will not be allowed to take the iPad home without a protective case  and signed iPad agreement. Students and parents will cover important policies and common applications at the orientation sessions. Please email jennifer.dye@jp2hs.org with questions.
