About JPII

Knight Notes

Dear JPII Community,

Today is our last day of school and we have finished an eventful and blessed school year. From the freshman C.H.A.R.G.E. during orientation through our senior graduation events, we have witnessed amazing accomplishments from our students. Grade level aside, all students met the challenge of a college-preparatory curriculum with determination. They were successful in meeting any obstacle set before them and as a result, they found themselves smarter, stronger, and better prepared for the next school year. As artists, they shared their gifts in acting, music, singing, and artistry, which amazed us and lifted our spirits. As athletes, students excelled in every competition, whether on the court, field, mat, course, pitching mound, at the range, or in the pool or lake. Coaches mentored them to become the best teammates by competing with character and playing like champions. As a community, they bonded with their one best friend and close buddies, their classmates and Housemates, their fellow Knights and teachers. For seniors, it wasn’t always easy to navigate the social experience through the past four years, but they learned more about their own gifts, what they value, and how to build happy, healthy, and holy relationships. Raising and teaching a high school student is a hard task, but when working as partners, parents and teachers can help a student grow into their best person while also making them feel loved. From the bottom of my heart, I thank my students, parents, colleagues, board members, the diocesan leadership, and Bishop Spalding for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful school.

I am sure you are anticipating your student’s final report card. We will post grades by end of day Thursday and Karen Brown will send an email once report cards are ready to view.

Camp JPII starts June 3rd and runs through June 28th. Visit the website to register for one of our vast offerings of exciting camps.

Mill’s Uniforms will offer a fitting day on Monday, June 3rd from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the JPII dining hall. They are offering a 10% discount and $5 shipping on orders of $100 and more during June 3rd-22nd.

We have two uniform policy changes to share with you. Polo shirts will be an option in 2019-2020. Students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade will have the option of wearing a navy blue polo and seniors will have the option of wearing a gray polo. The polos will have the JPII logo on them, be available in short and long-sleeved, and sold in the Armory. Ordering information will be communicated in the coming weeks. Oxfords (blue or white) will remain an option. There will be no change in skirts or pants.

Athletic shoes will be an option in 2019-2020. Students may choose any brand of an athletic shoe in gray, black, blue, or white ONLY. The design of the shoe cannot include any other colors. Sperry’s will remain an option. We hope this change will give students more choices, help parents manage cost, and provided a more suitable alternative to support the growing young adult and their arches.

As a reminder, beginning Friday, May 24th we will switch to our summer office hours. The office will be open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We ask that you please plan your visits during these hours.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mike Deely

Learn-to-Row Camp in July

For Summer 2019, our week-long Learn-to-Row camps will be held on three different weeks, with Saturday’s practice each week being open for parents to come out and see the lake and watch their kids take a few strokes to showcase what they have learned! With a rise in registration last summer, we have decided to add the 3rd week of LTR camp to help meet that demand.

SESSIONS:

  • Monday, July 8th to Saturday, July 13th
  • Monday, July 15th to Saturday, July 20th
  • Monday, July 22nd to Saturday, July 27th

COST: $150 per week

Each camp will run Monday through Saturday from 9 AM-12 PM and Saturday from 11 AM-1 PM for parents to come and watch.

Weeks will be capped at 24 future rowers, so please fill out the Google Form below for the week you are interested in. Please note that we will send an invoice for the cost of camp, and their spot will be not reserved until payment is received.
