“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” –B.K.S. Iyengar
Yoga was developed 5,000 years ago as a system of techniques to reach optimal levels of physical, mental, and emotional health. Students will acquire knowledge of basic yoga postures, safe body alignment, and breathing techniques, which will allow them to maintain a regular and independent long-term yoga practice. Physical benefits of a regular yoga practice include improved flexibility and balance, increased muscle strength and endurance, better overall physical fitness and cardiovascular health, increased lung capacity and respiratory function, improved posture, and promotion of better sleep. In addition to the physical benefits, yoga also improves concentration and focus, promotes mental and emotional stability, provides stress relief and piece of mind, boosts self-esteem and inner strength, and encourages self-care and healthy habits.
