Deacon Brian Edwards is the Director of Pastoral Care and Counseling at JPIl. He is additionally assigned to St. Edward Church. He is one of the founding faculty of JPII. After graduating from Fr. Ryan High School, he attended St. Ambrose College where he majored in English and Theology. He chaired the Religion Department at St. Bernard Academy High School before attending the University of Tennessee and earning a master’s degree in Social Work. Deacon Edwards worked as an individual and family therapist at the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt and at The Guidance Center.
In 1999, he was ordained a deacon and serves at St. Edward where he has been a life-long active member. Most recently he earned an M.A. in Theology from St. Meinrad School of Theology. He is married to Cathye Edwards and has three children: Nathan, Susanna and Daniel.
