Advanced Placement Biology is a continuation of the study of biology. The students have a strong understanding of the principles of physics, chemistry, and biology. This understanding will allow us to study and discuss current biological topics such as genetic modification, gene mapping, and changes in the ecosystems. We will now apply the biology concepts to develop a more rich understanding of how molecular and cellular structures impact larger systems in organisms and the environment. A deep understanding of content will be gained through experiences that provide the opportunity for investigation. Application of biological principals in the making of decisions concerning the environment and social concerns is critical to the sustaining of our world. The AP curriculum emphasizes depth and student investigation over breadth of topics. Data analysis will be a critical component of our course of study.
